I know Phil DeFranco's most recent Youtube video is the result of time, audience, money and research but I can't help but wonder if he or anyone representing him has been listening. Let me back up- In his most recent clip, PhillyD addresses the topic of advertising, his and others Youtubers popularity and his distaste for Youtube trying to adapt to a Hulu model. Phil is very aware of his powerful position atop the Youtube hierarchy- his videos gets millions of hits a month, he's in works with HBOLabs (and God knows who else) and he can basically do, say, think, or shit anything he wants and he's still golden. And I applaud him, as I have previously. The guys a true hustler and I must say, he's won me over. While I'm not a subscriber to his channel, I get excited every time I see his melon head gracing the top videos of the day.
So you know I'm watching him- but is he listening? To us? To me? Let me take a moment to step on my tiny soapbox and shout:
"SXEPHIL! JD BEEBE Here! You probably do not know or care about me or what I do. However, if you indeed are out there in the ether, scanning the interwebs for stories about you whilst perusing for other material for the show, I'd like to take this unique opportunity to say hello. I am interested in you not necessarily because of who you are or what you talk about, but because you have learned how make social media work for you in a way that very few have. And you've done it without the aid of fake tits (Sorry, hotforwords and AtheneWins) or an annoying voice modulator (Sorry, Fred). Because of this and because you are someone I both look to for insight, I would love to talk. I have no money to offer you (well, pocket change perhaps) and I don't have an agenda, I would just love to hear what makes you tick and what makes you get in front of that camera week and broadcast your ugly mug to the entire human race. So if you're listening, I'm hear to listen as well. jdbb529@gmail.com"
